This Tamil Month "Thai" was very auspicious month  for Hindu religious ceremonies and Hindu Temple Festivals especially in Tamilnadu and Tamil speaking parts of the World. Thaipusam is also a special day for Murugan devotees, who carry Kavadis to one of the Aarupadaiveedu (Literally meaning "six abodes").
Thai Pongal which is the harvest festival, is celebrated on the first day of this month. Thai Friday is a popular day among Telugu speaking peoples settled in Tamil Nadu.

House Warming Function "Grahapravesam" during the month of "Thai"

The month of Thai was considered very auspicious for Temple festivals. But, according to the Sacred Shastra, The Month of Thai was not considered favorable for New House Warming or Vastu Poojas to construct new house. If any one was very particular in doing house warming function during this month, then he must consider selecting this Special Day "Thai Poosam".

What is Vastu?

Vastu

Vastu is a science which is used in Building and space planning of Houses, Arranging office space and all commercial space.

So, now back to the same old question…! What is Vastu and how does it helps?

To answer this simple question, which might look simpler but it definitely needs an elaborate answer to the satisfaction of all people from different parts of this world.

Part one:
  • Vastu could be understood by the people who have some introduction to Metaphysics (Meta Philosophy). For example according this philosophy,   world seems to contain many individual things, both physical, like apples, and abstract, such as love and the number 3; the former objects are called particulars. Particulars are said to have attributes, e.g. size, shape, color, location, and two particulars may have some such attributes in common. Such attributes are also termed Universals or Properties; the nature of these and whether they have any real existence and if so of what kind, is a long-standing issue, realism and nominalism representing opposing views.

  • Metaphysicians concerned with questions about universals or particulars are interested in the nature of objects and their properties, and the relationship between the two. Some, e.g. Plato, argue that properties are abstract objects, existing outside of space and time, to which particular objects bear special relations. David Armstrong holds that universals exist in time and space but only at their instantiation and their discovery is a function of science.
  • According to the D. M. Armstrong, who was an Australian philosopher. Who is well known for his work on metaphysics and the philosophy of mind Armstrong states that his philosophical system rests upon the "assumption that all that exists is the space time world, the physical world as we say". He justifies this by saying that the physical worlds “seems obviously to exist” while other things "seem much more hypothetical".
  • Nominalism denies the existence of universals. The motivation for this flows from several concerns, the first one being where they might exist. Plato famously held, on one interpretation, that there is a realm of abstract forms or universals apart from the physical world (see theory of the forms). Particular physical objects merely exemplify or instantiate the universal. But this raises the question: Where is this universal realm? One possibility is that it is outside space and time.
  • However, naturalists assert that nothing is outside of space and time. Some Neoplatonists, such as the pagan philosopher Plotinus and the Christian philosopher Augustine, imply (anticipating conceptualism) that universals are contained within the mind of God. To complicate things, what is the nature of the instantiation or exemplification relation?
  • Conceptualists hold a position intermediate between nominalism and realism, saying that universals exist only within the mind and have no external or substantial reality.
  • Moderate realists hold that there is no realm in which universals exist, but rather universals are located in space and time wherever they are manifest. Now, recall that a universal, like greenness, is supposed to be a single thing. Nominalists consider it unusual that there could be a single thing that exists in multiple places simultaneously. The realist maintains that all the instances of greenness are held together by the exemplification relation, but this relation cannot be explained.
Part Two:
  • So, you had gone through the Part One answer. Hope, many readers had gone through a above confusing session which gave more questions than a definite answer. Correct?
  • Dear Readers, Now, the true answer is here. That is nothing but Hindu Dharma. The Vastu got it’s origin from where? What was its purpose?  The answers could only found inside ancient Hindu texts, where Plato and all the ancient Meta Philosophers failed to understand the core substance which drives the Time and Space issue.
